As technology progressed, so did the ambitions of the Rosen Imperium. In its later years, the empire began sending overseas expeditions in search of new trade routes. This led to a new age of colonization as some of them accidentally stumbled upon previously unknown lands full of exotic animals as well as untold natural resources. Many lesser nobles, and other industrious citizens, saw this as an opportunity to create their own domains and forge their own path away from the Kaiser's watchful eye.
Günther Pulaski was a merchant who eventually managed to marry into the Meissenstein family after amassing immense wealth on the new continent. A man of many secrets who resided at his vast estate in the heart of a tropical jungle, Pulaski was known for spending weeks deep within the rainforest all by himself, only to suddenly return without a word of explanation. Even though his initial approach towards the indigenous people was rather disdainful than friendly, the locals eventually began revering him and Pulaski-Meissenstein began surrounding himself with mysterious trinkets and local fauna. With each passing year, he became more and more withdrawn and violent, with his servants either abandoning the estate or suspiciously vanishing. Eventually Pulaski-Meissenstein and his last servant, Conrad Marlow, were the only ones left in the dilapidated mansion. According to Marlow, one day Günther fell ill with fever and set off into the jungle one last time, never to be seen again. Apparently, his last words were "The horror, the horror..."
